First pass pages!!!

One of my favorite parts of the publishing process is when my lovely editor sends along my first pass pages. I've also heard these called galleys (but I've also heard galley is interchangable with ARCs...it's all so confusing).

Anyway, first pass pages are formatted and printed in book layout, complete with font and chapter headers (except they're unbound). This is the stage right before ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) come out. I've been given a capped amount of time to look it over for typos and formatting issues, etc... and there are editors doing the same from my publisher's end.

This means that ARCs are just about to be printed. I'll let you know when they're here, but in the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the galley pages (all 197.5 pages worth, which will be 395 pages when bound in book form):

Oh, and one more seekrit, I have it on good authority they're going with a different color ink this time. Just as pretty as the purple, though. No worries! <3

I'll be offering up the signed title page (the one with the book cover picture) in an upcoming giveaway. But for now I'm off to reread Unhinged for the fifty-somethingeth time. Wish me luck! :)

    1. Right? The entire process is so cool. I thought maybe it wouldn't be as exciting this time around since I've already done it once, but it's still awesome! :)

  4. That is quite cool!

As a reader I think I get extremely confused about about the differences between galleys or ARCs or other terminology on occasion, but I can't wait to see the colour of that ink, the purple in Splintered is awesome!

And yay for getting ARCs soon!!

    1. Yes! Yay on ARCs! Although a part of me is just as nervous to launch this baby into the world as I was with the first one. Heh. I can't wait to see the ink, too!

And I love that they do different color inks than black at all! And I can't wait for ARCs - maybe I'll be lucky enough to win one ^^

  6. Aww man, someone beat me to the *squeal*! :) Can't wait for Unhinged! I plan to re-read Splintered, but I gave my copy to a friend to read and haven't gotten it back yet. Needless to say, I've been experiencing Morpheus withdrawal...

  8. Just gorgeous, Anita! After the very frustrating experience of reading chapter one on NetGalley (and I mean that as a compliment!!) I for one can't wait to read the rest.

    1. LOL. Thank you Tammy! And sorry about the frustration. I'll tell you a secret: that was chapter 3. So you're not only missing what comes after the chap, but what came before. Don't know if that will make it better or worse. LOL

  11. I'm nervous just seeing all these loose papers stacked up on top of each other. All it takes is one gust of Texas wind and... off to Wonderland they'll fly.
